Return & Refund Policy

Last updated: October 16, 2026

This Return & Refund Policy explains when JDM of Washington accepts a return, the fees that apply, how refused and damaged deliveries are handled, and how and when refunds are paid. Because everything we sell is a used import, our return rules are stricter than those of a typical online store. Please read this page before you order.

1. Scope

This policy applies to every purchase from JDM of Washington, whether made on this website, by phone, by email or in person at our Auburn warehouse. It works together with our Warranty Policy, which covers defective engines and transmissions, our Cancellation Policy, which covers orders that have not yet shipped or been picked up, and our Shipping Policy, which covers freight damage.

2. Summary of Return Rules

Product type Can it be returned? Fees
Engines and transmissions (defective, within the warranty period) Yes, as a warranty replacement under the Warranty Policy Shipping both ways paid by the buyer
Engines and transmissions (not defective) Only with our written approval, requested within 10 days of receipt 35% restocking fee plus original and return freight
Refused or undeliverable shipments Treated as a return 35% restocking fee plus original and return freight
Front clips, wheels, brakes, body, interior, suspension and other used parts and accessories No, all sales final Not applicable
Electronic parts No, sold AS IS Not applicable
Deposits Non-refundable Not applicable
Shipping and delivery charges Non-refundable Not applicable

3. Engines and Transmissions

Defective units

If an engine or transmission has a defect in the head or block internals during the warranty period, the remedy is repair or replacement under our Warranty Policy, not a refund. The claim must be supported by documentation from the certified mechanic who installed the unit, and the unit must be returned complete if we ask for it. We issue a refund for a warranty claim only if we cannot supply a comparable replacement.

Non-defective units

We do not accept returns or exchanges of engines or transmissions that are not defective, including returns because you changed your mind, found a different unit, sold the vehicle, or discovered that the unit does not fit your application. The only exception is a return that we have approved in writing in advance. To be considered, a request must reach us within 10 days of the date you received the unit, and the unit must be unused, uninstalled, complete, undamaged and still on the original pallet or in the original crate where possible.

Approved returns are subject to:

  • a 35% restocking fee calculated on the purchase price of the returned item;
  • the original outbound freight we paid to ship the unit to you, even if shipping was shown as free or included; and
  • the return freight to our Auburn warehouse, which you arrange and pay, or which we arrange and deduct from your refund.

There are no exceptions to these fees. A return that arrives without a return authorization, or that is incomplete, installed, damaged or different from the unit we shipped, will be refused or will be subject to additional deductions.

4. Parts and Accessories: Final Sale

Front clips, nose cuts, wheels, brakes, suspension components, body panels, interior pieces, trim, electronic parts and all other used parts and accessories are sold AS IS, WITH ALL FAULTS, and all sales are final. We do not accept returns or exchanges of these items for any reason, including fitment. Please confirm fitment with a mechanic before ordering and inspect the item carefully at pickup or delivery.

5. Refused Deliveries

If you refuse a shipment at delivery for any reason other than visible freight damage noted on the bill of lading, or if a shipment cannot be delivered because of an incorrect address, a missed appointment or an inability to receive freight at your location, the shipment will be returned to us and treated as a return under Section 3. The 35% restocking fee, the original freight and the return freight will be deducted from any refund. If those charges exceed the amount paid, we will invoice you for the difference.

6. Damage in Transit

Freight damage is not a return. Inspect every shipment before you sign for it. If the pallet, crate or item shows damage, note it on the carrier's bill of lading before signing, keep all packaging, and email us photos within 48 hours of delivery at jdmofwashington@gmail.com. We will file a claim with the carrier and work with you on a repair, replacement or credit based on the outcome of that claim. We are not responsible for damage that is not noted at delivery or reported within 48 hours. Full details are in our Shipping Policy.

7. Deposits

Deposits placed to hold an item, to order a unit that is not in stock, or to begin a swap package are non-refundable. A deposit is applied to the purchase price when the order is completed. If we are unable to supply the item, we will refund the deposit in full.

8. Shipping Charges

Shipping, delivery and liftgate charges are non-refundable in every case, including approved returns, refused deliveries and cancellations after shipment. The only exception is an order that we cancel ourselves, or an item that is replaced under a successful carrier damage claim where the carrier reimburses the freight.

9. How to Request a Return

Do not ship anything back to us without a return authorization. To request one:

  1. Email jdmofwashington@gmail.com with the subject line "Return request" within 10 days of receiving the item.
  2. Include your order number, the name on the order, the item and engine or transmission code, and the reason for the request.
  3. Attach clear photos of the item from several angles, including the pallet or crate, the identification tags and any area of concern.
  4. Wait for our written response. We will reply within 3 business days to approve or decline the request. If approved, we will send a return authorization number, the fee breakdown and packing and shipping instructions.
  5. Ship the item, drained of fluids and securely strapped to a pallet or packed in a crate, to 116 Clay Street NW Suite B-4, Auburn, WA 98001, with the return authorization number visible on the shipment. Approved returns must arrive within 14 days of the authorization date.

You may also call 253-929-8444 to discuss a return, but the request must be confirmed by email so that both of us have a written record.

10. Inspection and Refund Method

When a returned item arrives, we inspect it to confirm that it is complete, unused and in the condition it left our warehouse. We will email you the inspection result and the final refund amount.

Refunds are issued to the original payment method only. We do not refund to a different card, by check or in cash for an order paid by card. Orders paid in person by cash or check are refunded by business check mailed to the address on the order.

We issue the refund within 10 business days of completing the inspection. Your bank or card issuer may take additional time to post the credit, usually 3 to 10 business days. If you have not seen the refund within 20 business days of our confirmation email, contact us with your order number and we will provide the transaction reference.

11. Exchanges

We do not offer direct exchanges on non-defective items. If you want a different engine or transmission, request a return under Section 9 and place a new order for the unit you want. The restocking fee and freight charges still apply to the returned unit. A defective engine or transmission is exchanged for a comparable replacement under the Warranty Policy when a claim is approved. Parts and accessories cannot be exchanged.

12. Chargebacks

If you have a problem with an order, please contact us first. Filing a chargeback for an item that was delivered as described, or for fees disclosed in this policy, is a breach of our Terms of Service. We respond to every chargeback with the order record, delivery proof and a copy of this policy, and we may refuse future orders from customers who file unjustified chargebacks.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The version posted on the date of your order applies to that order. The date at the top of the page shows the most recent change.
